Numbers
5/26- Bolton Vermont
Well we have been home for a couple of weeks now and we are finally starting to get into the habit of this land stuff. At first I was a little confused at waking up at night as to where I was. I 'd look out and nothing was where it was supposed to be until it dawned on me that I was looking out my bedroom window. Driving was also a bit a challenge as moving at 65 mph was unnerving. Anyway we are mostly back to normal and I thought I would share some numbers with you.
We were out 257 days starting on Sept 5th and ending on May 15th the following year. We moved in some fashion or other 98 of those days. Pathetically few of those days were sailing. We stayed at docks 64 days and anchored another 58 nights and spent 151 evenings tied to a mooring. We spent 61 nights in Vero Beach with the longest stretch being 47 days. We did spend 10 days in St Augustine and a week anchored in Lake Worth in North Palm Beach. Other stops were a 9 days in Titusville where our daughter visited us and a week in Fernandina Beach. And of course we spent 17 nights at the Portsmouth Yacht club waiting out 2 hurricanes. There was also a week at the Westerly Yacht Club in Rhode Island. There were several other places we stayed for 4 to 5 days. Our MO seemed to be travel for 3 or 4 days then sit for a while. We tried not to move too much on weekends. We traveled a total of 3100 miles and used 332 gallons of fuel in the process. Mr Perkins was used for 449 hours working hard with only a few issues.
We spent $1100 on diesel fuel while only $321 on gasoline. The biggest expense was for moorings and docks which came to $7100. Anchoring was still free. We had just under $3000 in expenses for maintenance which included things for oil changes and filters. $1000 of that went towards the new stainless steel mixing elbow.
We went out to restaurants fairly often wracking up $4800 in dining charges while groceries cost us $4100. Thankfully we only had $725 of health related expenses most of which were for prescriptions.
All in all we had a great time and met a ton of very nice people. I want to thank any one who bothered to read this blog and hopefully you will pick it back up when we return to Ms Nutmeg again.
