Sailing
6/8- Port Washington NY
We finally had a day of sailing. We had all three sails out today as we had a tacking fest. We beat up through a whole fleet of runabouts fishing for stripers. We managed to turn a 6 mile trip into a 10 mile sail with all the tacks we had to do. That was fine as we hadn’t done this in a while and we were a bit rusty. We finally cruised down the bay and took a mooring at Port Washington.
There was a steady stream of boats going by us all afternoon. I was amazed at the amount of boats traffic there was. There were all kinds of boats from little 19 foot sailboats to a monstrous catamaran that made the people on deck look tiny.
We took the water taxi into town and walked around a bit. These water taxis are amazing in how they can keep track of where everyone is going and coming.
There is a wind event coming tomorrow along with some rain. The wind is not so strong but it is coming directly from where we want to go. And we all know gentlemen never sail to weather. I’m not sure where that leaves me but anyway we will hope the wind turns itself around soon.
