 7/4- Falmouth ME

We got Alayne off to CA this morning and then I went exploring Falmouth a bit. This is not the low rent district. There are many big fancy homes with well manicured yards residing here. The town market here is not for the faint of heart either.

It was a beautiful day with a very nice 10-15 knot breeze. It would have been a wonderful day to go sailing. It was good to see many empty mooring balls as folks headed out to take advantage of this day.

Being the 4th of July there is of course the required fireworks display. As I watched from the cockpit I could see the fireworks from several towns all across the bay. Portland’s display was the biggest and most impressive. Of course now you can watch the parade of green and white lights heading down the bay as all the boaters in the harbor head home. The launches here will run until 11pm tonight and the water is churning already.  I have turned on some lights to hopefully guide the returning fleet away from me.
