Wind

 2/6-Jensen Beach

Well the wind howled, roared, screamed, wailed, bellowed, shrieked , and even caterwauled. The wind pretty much did as it pleased today. We had white caps on 2 foot waves only 200 yards from the beach. I really can’t imagine what it must have been like off shore. They were predicting 20 foot waves in the Gulf Stream. So we hung out on the boat as going to shore meant getting soaked. At least it was sunny most of the day. The boat rocked and rolled all day as I kept trying to quiet the halyards that insisted on slamming into the mast. Hopefully by late tomorrow it will have died down to only a roar or two.

I’m reasonably sure that someone is missing a lot of air as there has been an incredible amount of air moving past me on the last couple of days. I keep wondering where it is all going. If you find any keep it.

This anchorage is fairly wide open especially to the south and east. That is why we picked it as the wind has come out of the northwest. The protection though is just a spot of land with the ramp of a bridge on it. Basically all it hopes to stop are the waves which are worse than wind in an anchorage. I would normally trust my anchor to hold but this wind was in the 30-35 mph range and I was glad to be on a mooring today. I will definitely actually sleep tonight.
