We got a lot of boat chores done this morning. We did mundane stuff like laundry and filling water tanks as well as the real exciting chores like changing fuel filters. I always am reluctant to change this filter because it’s about 50/50 if the motor will start afterwards. Then I have to go through and bleed it all over again. This was a time when it failed to start. However after cracking an injector it fired right up. It’s always a relief to have that chore done.
In the afternoon we went out for lunch with my old college roommate and his wife. We drove around a bit and saw Suicide Bridge. We stop and talked with a waterman who was baiting his trap line for crabbing tomorrow. I like the term waterman as it covers all the people who make their living on the water. It is a tough place to make your living and whether you are a crabber or lobsterman or an oyster man working on the water molds your life like no other venue.
We are here for one more day before we start the long slow trip north. The weather again is seeming to be uncooperative but we will shoulder on.
