Mal de Mer
6/28- Kittery ME
If last night didn’t make us seasick I’m not sure what will. The wind picked up a bit and blew right in the mouth of the river. So when the tide went out it produced these short 2-3 waves that were really close together. The boat lined up and took these bow on and then hobby horsed like a bucking bronco. I didn’t notice it much sitting in the salon but when I went to bed in the v-berth it was impressive. The bow of the boat was going up and down a good 6-8 feet going over every wave. What was really impressive though was that we both fell right asleep. Towards morning when the tide starting going out the wind died so that turned the boat sideways to the swell. Now it rolled side to side. At least we stayed in our bunks and didn’t end up on the floor. No mal de mer this time!
It was rainy and foggy all day. The fog was so dense it felt like it was raining when it was just water condensing out of the air. We just hung around the boat and did our two favorite things. Get your minds out of the gutter that’s reading and napping ! Alayne did eke out a Scrabble victory by a couple of points.
I know sometimes our days are just thrilling and filled with action and adventure, other times not so much. Today was not too exciting but hey- we’re on a boat on the ocean…
