Money

 6/17- Block Island RI

The fog was darn thick this morning though I could still see shore. It wasn’t looking like it was going to be a nice sunny warm day. We decided to brave the weather and head into town.

Alayne wanted to take a shower which was conveniently located on the other side of town. We had to walk the mile and a half to get to the only shower for transients in the harbor. You have to use tokens to get water and it was reported that while she got water it was not heated to an acceptable level.

So then we walked back past all these stores selling the same trinkets as everywhere else except these say Block Island on them. Alas you’ve heard this rant from me before.

We have to get out of here soon as there is a money leak out of my wallet. It started slow put it is picking up the longer we stay here. This place is designed to separate you from your money and it is doing a pretty fair job of it.  Everything is considerably more expensive out here. I know it’s not just here and the next several stops are all places where money just leaps right out of your wallet.

I was kind of disappointed in the place though as you get very little for what you pay for this mooring. There are no showers to speak of, no nearby fuel( which would probably be more than I could afford anyway), there’s not even any water. Well I guess there is but you have to take your dinghy and motor up the creek a bit until you see a post stuck in the middle of the creek with a hose attached. Or I guess you could call the Water Boy boat to come out and charge you for water. At least that would be cheaper than the $3 bottle of water I bought in town.

The wind is supposed to be light and south tomorrow so we plan to hit the high seas once again. We’ll let you know where we land.
