Good bye
7/31- Rockland ME
Goodbye July you’ve been fun. We haven’t gone far in this month in miles but we got back to our summer home base. We started out in Portland and ended up in Rockland and traveled far without going too far.
Today was provisioning day as I borrowed a car and went to Walmart and Hannafords. I loaded up with groceries for our week long trip. It was a cloudy day with rain spurting off and on so it was a good time to head to the store.
We went out to dinner tonight with the woman who gave us our mooring for the rest of the season. Her husband was someone we met in the boat yard and we became quite good friends. Unfortunately he passed away this past spring. She saw I was looking for a mooring and graciously offered the one they had. We had a good if somewhat emotional time recalling good times with her.
As I look around the bay here I see a lot of empty moorings for the end of July. I feel like there are almost as many empty ones as full ones. There are still many boats left in the yard also. Is the big Covid boat push over? Inquiring minds want to know.
